| “Roddy Smythe Investigates…The Mystery of the Titterington Stones” (Northern Misfits 2002). SCI-FI COMEDY. Spoof paranormal documentary series starring Peter Slater (“Phoenix Nights” (Ch4), “Ideal” (BBC) and “Slaterwood” (Ch4) as scientist and paranormal enthusiast Roddy Smythe, Perrier-winning comedian and actor Peter Kay as alien-abductee Tommy Doyle, Bafta-nominated theatre actress Kiki Kendrick as Tommy’s long-suffering nice-but-dim wife Sharon Doyle and martial artist, actor and producer Mark Strange as Soundman Geoff, who has gained ninja super powers after being struck by lightning while filming in the rain. Following a spate of UFO sightings in the sleepy Lancashire town of Lower Titterington, Roddy Smythe and his crew arrive to make a paranormal documentary about the strange standing stones that have appeared overnight in the town, unaware of mysterious, government-sponsored assassins attempting to silence the television celebrity once and for all. WSritten, produced and directed by Mark Howard (“Dave Courtney’s Guide to Self Defence”, “The Paranormal Experiment” and “Life’s a Bitch, Billy Dean”)
“Video Diary – A Man Called Smythe” (Northern Misfits 2003). SCI-FI COMEDY. At the time of Roddy Smythe’s mysterios death in Lower Titterington, media student Ulrika Norge (Astrid Brogan) was following the production unit with her own video camera. What she captured on tape was a production in crisis, a director on the verge of a nervous breakdown and a crew far too busy waging war on zombies, ghosts and aliens to worry about anything as trivial as finance, production meetings and ratings. With special make-up effects by BAFTA-winning make up artist Tristan Versluis (“Sweeney Todd”, “From Beyond the Rave”), the film charts the highs and lows of Roddy Smythe’s career, with exclusive clips from previously banned investigations. Starring Peter Slater, Mark Strange, Noel Croke and Astrid Brogan. Written, produced and directed by Mark Howard. Currently in post-production – “Roddy Smythe and the Shadow of Terror” (GCH Entertainment 2009). Feature. “Roddy Smythe Investigates Zombies” (GCH Entertainment 2009). 30 minute TV episode. Both titles written and directed by Mark Howard. Both titles feature Mark Strange as Soundman Geoff. |
